Memory and Emotion Lab

Individuals use memory to create a sense of reality that represent our knowledge of the world and ourselves. Memory is central to who we are and how we behave, with knowledge about the past informing thoughts and decisions in the present.

In Memory & Emotion Lab at Kadir Has University, we use behavioral research tools to identify the mechanisms that drive encoding and retrieval in different contexts. Not only what we remember and how we remember, but also, we focus on the why component, investigating the functional aspect of remembering with a particular focus on individual differences.

Current research in the lab includes projects on

  • Autobiographical memory
  • Emotion regulation
  • Collective memory
